san clemente wine barWe are so incredibly psyched to have found out about up-and-coming winemaker Chris Phelps that we HAD to choose this as one of our featured wines.

Normally wineries use labels as a way of communicating what they believe the personality of the wine is (or should be), but Grounded Wine Co has taken a different direction with this one. The minimalist label is inviting and refreshing, daring us to interpret the wine’s message on our own.

Nose: Crushed red plum, cherry, raspberry

Palate: Young & charming, anise, strawberry, cherry pie, black tea leaf & cinnamon. Smooth with a long, fragrant finish.

Public Radio is a firm but smooth wine which expresses a bold message.

Orin Swift 8 Years in the Desert

Napa Valley, CA

A blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah and small percentages of other red varietals.

This wine has a great story – Phenom winemaker Dave Phinney created a fantastic Zinfandel, and is releasing that same batch in 8 parts once a year for 8 years. Each September release of this wine will feature a different label. Cool, right?

This is a return for Orin Swift winery to the varietal that started it all after 8 years without producing any Zin. 8 Years in the Desert is a labor of love, sweat and tears from everyone involved. This very special vintage is a super rare treat, and it’s on our shelves right now!!

Color: Dark garnet with a lucid rim

Nose: Briar fruit, ripe blackberry, dark plum with a tinge of minerality and charred meat

Palate: Brawny up front, big mid-palate, brambly fruit with a touch of espresso bean and earth. Massive through the finish.

Howell at the Moon Cabernet 2012

Knoll Valley, CA

san clemente wine restaurant - BarnoaThis is one of our new faves! Howell at the Moon Winery has taken great care to learn the craft of Cabernet making, and it definitely shows.

Color: Deep Purple

Palate: blackberry, currants, pomegranate, and spice, layered with graphite, broken earth and chocolate

The light almond and apple notes of this wine are what we love – this is a fantatic & romantic winter white.

This wine’s chamomile, acacia flower, yellow stone fruit and honey aromas lift out of the glass. The round, medium-bodied palate delivers ripe apricot, yellow peach and nectarine flavors while an almond note lingers on the tangy finish.
