This week’s selection is the “powerful and complex” 2014 Giornata Sangiovese from Paso Robles.
The winery describes:
“Our Sangiovese is generally one of the most powerful and complex produced in California. This is clearly the case with 2014, perhaps the closest to our Tuscan ideal yet.”
Much like a traditional Sangiovese, its notes of dusty tobacco, leather, and red cherry come through on the nose. On the palate, its structured tannin and acidity round out the experience. This one will need a “serious meal” to compete with such a serious flavor profile – pastrami sliders, anyone?
